My junior year of high school I entertained the idea of becoming an exchange student and looked into doing the AFS program. I had planned on doing my exchange abroad in "France" during my senior year of high school. My parents weren't really supportive of me going to France, and really were not in impressed with the price, as it was really really expensive just to do the AFS program.
A year or two before that, a guy my sister graduated with had gone to Sweden on exchange with the Rotary club. During my junior year, the year I was looking into AFS, Valissa Warren, a girl at my school was studying abroad in Spain as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. I decided to look into the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Use the "Belgium Links" to the right to navigate throught the "Belgium" section, which will inform you of the Rotary YEP program and my year abroad in Belgium, a year that changed my life!
